The Importance of Feedback
Feedback is needed to keep the learner on track. Feedback can be immediate or delayed. Immediate feedback is provided as soon as a question is submitted. For example, a learner cannot continue the elearning experience until they have the correct answer. Delayed feedback happens at the end of the elearning experience, for example after the final 20-question quiz. Feedback ensures the learner continuously knows their progression and also how to improve.
Immediate feedback is important because its helps the learner learn from their mistakes immediately. This adds to motivation because the learner can fix their mistakes immediately and is always achieving success. Delayed feedback is important because it ensures the learner commits main concepts to memory during the elearning task. The learner knows he or she will be tested at the end, so this compels them to understand and remember the main concepts.
